just another day

I never understand where time goes. It is already Sunday and I'm about to start the week all over again but can't recollect what I did last week. Oh well. Only my third post so far and I haven't made any food worth sharing since I started the blog. I better get inspired.
You know what is inspiring? The farmers' market. This morning, Phil from Sage Mountain Farm had the best looking asparagus I've ever seen. So I bought it all. Yes, I did buy it ALL. I've got some plans for an asparagus-saffron pasta, asparagus and leek frittata, and anything else asparagus that comes to mind. Recipes will follow.
You know what else is inspiring? My garden, especially the artichokes and the lettuce. Check them out. I really enjoyed seeing how much one of my nieces loved the giant salad plants. ;-)

Triple-Take

Saturday morning was triple trouble. My brother in law came over with his family and kids. Triplets, to be precise. We had a garden tour and a pick-your-own lettuce and lemons activity that was followed by some fun and exploration in the tide pools. The triplets are 4 and a half and three times as much trouble. They are cute, fun, and oh so inquisitive. Here are a few pictures from our Saturday triple-trouble.

No. 1

Everytime I even think about starting a blog, my self-esteem kicks in. That is, my lack thereof. Who wants to listen to my rants and raves? Maybe no one...or maybe someone, who knows. I want to share my passion for cooking and eating with others who love food. Simple food. Alice Waters really has it right with The Art of Simple Food...that is the best way food can be prepared...simply.

I've received quite a bit of encouragement from my friends to start a blog. After much resistance, here I am, writing to the Internet. To an infinite abyss of something... It'll be a journey. A journey to eat delicious, local, and as much as possible sustainable meals that taste as good (or I hope even better) than those you could pick up at your local favorite restaurant. You will surprise yourself...food isn't that hard to make when you start with fresh ingredients. I look forward to sharing my passion for food with you!
